＜サワン・ジョシ プロフィール＞ １９７７年 ネパール、カトマンドゥに生まれる。14歳よりシタール演奏を学び、北インド古典音楽を習得。 ハイスクール時代、シタールをフューチャーしたロックバンドを結成。１９９８年 ネパール全国古典楽器コンクールにて1位。ネパールにてライヴ演奏、ラジオ出演などの活動はじまる。２０００年 留学生として来日。２００２年 Ho-Hi-Yan国際音楽祭（台湾）、その後、 アジア・アコースティック・フェスティバル（台湾）、国際民謡歌謡祭（台湾）、The Raising Sun Rock Festival（北海道）、Fuji Rock Festivalなど に出演し聴衆を魅了。２００３年 インディーズより「Swotantra」リリース。２００４年 東京藝術大学音楽研究科に入学し、2010年博士課程修了。その後インド・ネパール音楽についての研究活動の傍ら、古典音楽をベースに様々な音楽との融合を試みた演奏活動を行っている。
